FibrMat® Advanced Intrusion Detection Tracking System
In areas where the fiber cannot be buried directly, a camouflaged transit sensor mat with serpentine sensitive cable can provide added protection. Our FibrMat® Advanced Intrusion Detection Tracking System can be deployed utilizing our specialized transit detection mat with embedded optical fiber and as direct buried optical fiber cable (FibrMat® Direct Buried Advanced Intrusion Detection Tracking System) along tracks, piers, bridges and light/heavy rail station platforms. Using these fiber optic cable solutions, movement can be tracked to within one foot and people in specific locations that are walking, running, or standing on the tracks are individually detected.
Easily definable thresholds are set for minimum weight limits, gait of four legged creatures, multiple approaching targets, vehicle recognition, saturated soil compensation, snow accumulation, speed, direction and more, with each one recognized as an individual signature. As a result, FBG optics in the cable will ignore seismic activity at a specific point from small animals like rats and mice, but detect objects such as a backpack full of explosives. The FibrMat® Advanced Intrusion Detection Tracking System integrates new or existing video cameras and CCTV/Video Analytics systems to enhance intrusion alerts in case a person has entered onto the track intentionally or by accident as well as to help prevent potential suicides.
This TransitVUE ® System can be placed alongside railroad tracks within subway tunnels to detect areas not covered by security cameras and video analytics. This includes someone throwing an object onto the track, jumping off a station platform onto the track below, or walking towards the tunnels. Security and transit personnel will be notified immediately and if rail security has been breached the train can be stopped before reaching the station.
