Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP)

Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) is a network protocol for delivering audio and video over IP networks. It was developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). RTP is one of the foundations of VoIP and it is used in conjunction with SIP, which assists in setting up the connections across the network. It’s used in conjunction with other protocols such as H.323 and RTSP. It is used in conjunction with the RTP Control Protocol (RTCP). While RTP carries the the media streams (e.g., audio and video), RTCP is used to monitor transmission statistics and quality of service (QoS) and aids synchronization of multiple streams. It is originated and received on even port numbers. The associated RTCP communication uses the next higher odd port number.

Dante

Dante replaces the need for long runs of specialized analog cables dedicated to only a single type of signal going to a single device at a time. It is AES67-2018 compliant and enables interoperability with other AES67 implementations by other compliant vendors. AES67 will provide an alternative open standard within Dante for transport using the RTP. It allows hundreds of channels of audio and video over fiber optic and Ethernet cables with perfect digital fidelity. All connections are managed, making routes fast, clear and reliable. Because all devices share the same network, signals can be sent between any devices no matter where they are located on the network. Dante devices are easily added to the network, like any other IP addressable device. Just connect additional devices to any available network jack and start using it.
