LACMTA (Metro) – Los Angeles

Metro Rail is an urban rail system serving Los Angeles County, California. It consists of six lines, including two rapid transit subway lines (the Red and Purple lines) and four light rail lines (the Blue, Green, Gold and Expo lines) serving 93 stations. It connects with the Metro Liner bus rapid transit system (the Orange Line and Silver Line) and also with the Metrolink commuter rail system. Metro Rail, which has an average daily weekday ridership of 362,904 is owned and operated by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) and started service in 1990. It has been extended significantly since that time and several further extensions are either in the works or being considered.

Metro Project I Description

LACMTA awarded a contract to a TransitVUE® systems integrator to provide a custom designed video surveillance video wall for Metro Rail security at the ROCC to survey and report any possible security violations or crimes in progress. The ROCC security operations and control center displays feeds for all Metro Rail stations in the system.

TransitVUE® provided a custom display housing structure, monitors, interconnect cabling, network controllers and operator consoles. Metro utilized their own video management software (VMS).

Metro Project II Description

LACMTA awarded a contract to a TransitVUE® systems integrator to provide custom designed and built security consoles and a video wall to hold six 46” LCD monitors for Metro security on the 2nd floor at their headquarters building in Downtown LA. The individual security operator consoles and the mobile operations and control center are used to survey and report any possible security violations or crimes in progress at Union Station and other non-disclosed locations.

TransitVUE® provided three custom built security consoles with six 28” LCD monitors per console, interconnect cabling, and network controllers and the VMS from Hiperwall.

Metro Project III Description

LACMTA awarded a contract to a TransitVUE® systems integrator to provide a designed and built security and emergency video monitoring center for Metro on the 6th floor at their headquarters building in Downtown LA. The security and emergency monitoring video wall is used to monitor any security or emergency situations involving the building, surrounding area, remote Metro locations and to act as the command and control center in emergency situations.

TransitVUE® provided a custom display housing structure to hold twelve 60” LCD monitors, interconnect cabling, and network controllers and the VMS from Hiperwall.

Metro Project IV Description

LACMTA awarded a contract to a TransitVUE® systems integrator to provide a designed security monitoring video wall for Metro executives on the 25th floor at their headquarters building in Downtown LA. The security monitoring video wall is used to monitor any security or emergency situations involving the building and surrounding area to keep Metro executives informed of any emergency situation which may arise.

TransitVUE® provided a custom display housing structure, nine 46” LCD monitors, interconnect cabling, and network controllers. Metro utilized their own video management software (VMS).

LA County Sheriff – Los Angeles

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) is a law enforcement agency which serves Los Angeles County, California — an area totaling approximately 4,084 square miles with a population of almost 10 million people (2010 U.S. Census). It is the largest Sheriff’s Department in the world, with approximately 18,000 employees.

LASD provides general law enforcement services to 40 contract cities, 90 unincorporated communities, 216 facilities, hospitals, and clinics located throughout the County, nine (9) community colleges, the Metropolitan Transit Authority and 47 Superior Courts. LASD also provides services such as laboratories and academy training to smaller law enforcement agencies within the County. Additionally, LASD is responsible in securing approximately 18,000 inmates daily in 7 custody facilities which includes providing food and medical treatment.

LASD awarded a contract to a TransitVUE® systems integrator to provide a designed and built security operator consoles and video wall for LASD personnel at the Metro headquarters building in Downtown LA. The security monitoring center is used to monitor any security or emergency situations involving the building and surrounding area and to dispatch the necessary law enforcement personnel to a crime scene and to help ensure the public’s safety at Union Station.
